Photographer Comments: It was difficult for me to capture the full tonal range in this picture due to the very contrasty lighting conditions. Rather than take the predictable, less interesting picture of the sculpture from the front, I searched for a different viewpoint that would place the statue in relation to another more prominent visual element; this turned out to be the American flag in the middle of the frame emblazoned in sunshine flying stiffly in the brisk, afternoon wind of that October day.
