This is a photograph taken at night of traffic crossing the Memorial Bridge in Washington DC with the Lincoln Monument in the background. It is cataloged under the terms cities, architecture, landmarks, transportation, night scenes and streets & bridges in this photography database.
The image was exposed on 35mm Kodak Tri-X 400 black & white film stock using a Pentax Asahi Spotmatic II camera with a Asahi Pentax 28mm f/3.5 lens.
Photographer Comments: This is one of my favorite photographs. I like the composition and the balance of the auto lights both moving towards and away from my camera. Contrary to what many believe, I did not use a special filter to achieve the star-like glow around the bridge lights. I just got lucky!! I remember thinking it was a shame that the traffic sign was present in the middle of the frame, and I've considered using photoshop to remove it, but it's naturally inherent to the scene so I decided to leave it there. I don't think it detracts too much, do you?
Additionally, Jim thought of search phrases (i.e. terms) that a person who is actively seeking pictures on the Internet related to this particular topic might employ when performing his or her exploration including the words Arlington Memorial Bridge Lincoln monument Washington DC traffic lights cars autos, so he included these on this details page as a service to himself and others who would like to download this royalty free photograph! |
