A beached seal and factory billowing smoke into the air near Monterey, California.

A beached seal and factory billowing smoke into the air near Monterey, California.

A disturbing image of a dead seal juxtaposed against distant smokestacks from a plant effusing pollution into the atmosphere. This photograph dated September 03, 2006 was taken by Jim Epler during the fall in Monterey, CA at the Moss Landing State Beach. It is cataloged under the terms nature, animals, coastal views, urban scenes, signs & symbols and documentary in this photography database.

The image was exposed on 35mm Fuji Velvia 50 color slide film stock using a Canon EOS Rebel v300 (Ti) camera with a Canon 17-40mm f/4 L lens stopped to f/6.7 and exposed at a speed of 1/90th of a second.

Photographer Comments: I think this disturbing image speaks for itself. I originally passed the subject but returned to snap this photograph because of the way it made me feel.

Additionally, Jim thought of search phrases (i.e. terms) that a person who is actively seeking pictures on the Internet related to this particular topic might employ when performing his or her exploration including the words dead animal, beach, global warming, EPA, peta, carbon emissions, environment, carbon monoxide, greenpeace, animal rights, smokestacks, pollution, coastline, World Wildlife Fund, greenhouse gases and death, so he included these on this details page as a service to himself and others who would like to download this royalty free photograph!
