A famous cable car of San Francisco.

A famous cable car of San Francisco.

A famous SF vantage point showing the Powell/Hyde cable car descending down to Fisherman's Wharf. Alcatraz Island can be seen in the distance. This photograph captured in February, 2000 was taken by Jim Epler during the winter in San Francisco, CA on Hyde Street. It is cataloged under the terms travel, cities, landmarks, transportation, urban scenes and streets & bridges in this photography database.

The image was exposed on 35mm Kodak GOLD 200 color film stock using a Pentax Asahi Spotmatic II camera with a Asahi Pentax 55mm f/1.8 lens.

Photographer Comments: I remember my trek up Hyde Street from Fisherman's Wharf to take this shot. I misjudged the slope of Hyde street and found myself winded by the time I arrived at this particular point along the route. I decided to take the shot here and be done with it, although now I wish I had taken more time to go further up the hill. My wife (girlfriend at the time) was pressing for time and I didn't want to make her more mad than she already was! To this day I don't know why I didn't just take the cable car up the hill instead of walking. I guess I thought it would be good exercise.

Additionally, Jim thought of search phrases (i.e. terms) that a person who is actively seeking pictures on the Internet related to this particular topic might employ when performing his or her exploration including the words treat, Hyde Street, cable car, trolley, alcatraz and San Francisco, so he included these on this details page as a service to himself and others who would like to download this royalty free photograph!
