Prayers at the Meniji Shrine in Japan.

Prayers at the Meniji Shrine in Japan.

A close-up view of prayer placards at a local Japanese shrine. This photograph was taken by Jim Epler at 5:54 PM on 5/18/2007 in Tokyo, JPN at the Meniji Shrine. It is cataloged under the terms travel, cities and signs & symbols in this photography database.

This image was recorded on digital media using a Canon Digital Rebel xTi camera with a Canon 17-40mm f/4 L lens stopped to f 6.3 and exposed at a speed of 1/60 sec.

Photographer Comments: You write wishes or prayers on these little placards and then tie them outside the temple in order that they might come true. These prayers were dedicated at the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo.

Additionally, Jim thought of search phrases (i.e. terms) that a person who is actively seeking pictures on the Internet related to this particular topic might employ when performing his or her exploration including the words Japanese, prayer, shrine, custom, wish, temple, wishes, prayers and Japan, so he included these on this details page as a service to himself and others who would like to download this royalty free photograph!
